She's a very hard woman to please! I've rented her 79,372 movies (roughly ) and she's probably loved five or six of them -

eg

On Golden Pond
Chocolat
Amelie
Babette's Feast
My Life as a Dog

She hates anything too 'drippy', but loves 'sweet' movies with a good story, maybe with a touch of romance. Violence and heart-breaking ends (eg Pay it Forward) are a complete no-no.

Help? :)

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (The One With the Whales)
Beethoven
Beethoven's 2nd
Babe

An iffy movie, with no violence, lots of humor, and some romance.... Super Troopers.

Hard to say without knowing your mother, but...

Never met anyone that didn't thoroughly enjoy:

Kind of a "feel-good" movie, but touching nonetheless:

The story is a little rough on the squeamish (a little violence and some sensitive topics), but my mother loved:

You people are legends, thank you!

Okay, I'll have a look through that list.....surely there's one in there that she'll like?!

But forgot to mention......she thinks Hugh Grant is a "drip".

La Vie En Rose is another good movie.

EDIT: Big Fish is another kick ass movie, so I'm seconding BiTurboMunkie's recommendation of it.
