I’m looking for an iOS audiobook player that satisfies the following conditions:
  1. Must be ad-free. I suffer violent reactions to ads in apps. Need not be free.
  2. Must be able to access tracks classified as audiobook from the iTunes Media library
  3. Be well behaved with regards to background power usage.
  4. Full audiobook controls and Airplay support
What do you use and can recommend? Thanks in advance.

I’m so stupid. Turns out I hadn’t turned on “Sync Audiobooks” in the iPhone settings in iTunes.

I fully expect them to now be available in iBooks.

Please accept my deepest apologies!

Well you've no reason to apologise to me, mate. I just wondered if there was a reason you wanted something different than iBooks, or if you didn't know it could play your audiobooks :). – They used to be in the Music app, but in one of the newer years' iOS, it got moved to iBooks, which makes more sense
