Hey guys, I just got my MDD yesterday and I feel the need to put stuff in it because that was my intention from the start. Here are specs:
Dual 1.25 ghz G4
1 gig of ram (2 slots left)
80 gig drive (can add 3 more hard drives)
SuperDrive
Tiger
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (doesn't support core image)

What would you upgrade to get this machine to run it's fastest?

i would up the HDD first 250's are cheap ish these days the ram is just beggin to be taken to 2GB and if there's any money left in the pot - see if you can up that video card

i take it your planning this to be used as a editing machine for iMovie/FCP?

Any idea where to get those 9800 video cards nowadays? Are there any other options that'll work in the AGP slot of an MDD Powermac?

The upgrades I've performed to mine are:

1)+512MB = 768 MB Ram
2) Additional 120 GB Seagate Barracuda (alongside original 60GB drive)
3) PCI card providing 3 USB2 ports (and a couple of internal ones as well) and 2 Firewire400 ports (though sleep no longer works - the machine won't wake up from sleep any more. I hear this is quite common)
4)Superdrive (to replace original Pioneer combo drive that the machine suddenly stopped recognising)
5)Airport card (I had an original Airport Base Station hanging around, realised I wasn't using it due to my Netgear DG834GT being generally much more useful, so took it apart to get the Airport card out of it)
6)D-Link USB bluetooth dongle, Logic Audio dongle (which I keep internally to stop me from losing it)

I've found the USB2 ports to be really really handy when using USB memory sticks and my new iPod.

I wouldn't mind adding more drives to it at some point. Maybe an SATA card to drive them, if that'd work. Anybody?

Also, mine's a dual 867 G4. Are there any well-priced ZIF upgrades that anyone knows of?

Take or receive some grammar lessons would be preferable ;)

First step is admitting! Way to be proactive! :)
