Recommend tablet?

Hi, im unsure if this is the right place to post this but i was wondering if anyone could recommend me a graphics tablet for designing.

Considering im a beginner with tablets i would like a fairly cheap one with good capabilities, forgive me if ive put this in the wrong place.
 
Take a look at the Wacom range, they will be your best bet IMO.

I have have the Intuos 4 and Intuos 4 wireless...both great tablets but they arent cheap. It all depends on what you are willing to spend really, if you can afford it go for the intous if not def have a look at their Bamboo range.

Wacom is so much better than the alternatives that you are foolish to think of other brands. If budget is tight, buy a bamboo. You give up pen tilt and a few buttons (over the intuos), but it works well. I am sure an artist may care about the difference, but for me (for photo editing), the bamboo works well.

How big a screen are you using? A small tablet normally works up to a single 24", bigger than that normally requires a bigger tablet.

so what would you suggest for a 27" iMac - i have been looking at the Bamboo's again, as i never used all the functions on the intuos seems a waste
 
Having been the owner of three tablets over many years - my bit of advice is that size is critical. Big isn't always best. Years ago I went from a tiny little grey jobby to an A4 one. (Thinking the bigger it was the better it would all be.) Complete ergonomic disaster - far too big for me. Too big for the desk (getting to the keyboard was an issue) and meant I was exhausted after using it. (Big sweeping movements etc). Eventually sold it.

Just bought a wireless medium - chuffed with it.

I did some research this time and I tried a friends old style A6 bamboo. (Was very impressed by the Bamboo A6 value but I didn't think the A5 bamboo's seemed as good value) but at A6 I found it a bit small. I've got long fingers and at full stretch without moving my hand the pen would often skate (just) off the top of the active area.

So, I actually looked up the specs on the Wacom site and cutout some bits of paper to the tablet sizes and drew on the active areas and got a feel for them. On that basis I chose the wireless one which I find perfect for the size of my hands. I also find the buttons surprisingly useful - as the ascribed key commands light up on the tablet (I kid you not!). (On my previous Intuos 3 - they were at the top at each side and I could never remember what they were!)
 
You can't go wrong with anything wacom. Go for their mid-range model for the best bang for your buck. Bamboo might not suit your needs depending on what you want to do.
 
I've used wacoms for years and easily my favorite is the wireless intuos 4. Worth every penny. I use it with my dual 27inch displays. (Mapped to one screen but with the touch of a button I can switch to the other! I love it!)

As others have stated size is important, and bigger does NOT mean better. The intuos is the best by far and really worth the extra money.

what type of bamboo tablet would suit my needs best for drawings and designs to work with a 27 inch imac?
 
Bamboo Help

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but here goes. I bought a Bamboo pen. I cannot figure out how to place handwritten notes on Word for Mac documents. Forget about that word recognition thing. I just want my handwritten notes on the document. Am I trying to do something that cannot be done.

Thanks for any help you all can provide.
