Anyone else? There has to be some developers that could give some suggestions...right?
Your input is most helpful.

Thanks...
Drive 10 will cease to exist very soon, as it was just a stopgap for TTP4. If you purchase Drive 10 by July 31, though, you're eligible for a free upgrade to TTP4. That being said, I'm thrilled with the combo I use. Between DW3 and TTP Deluxe for OS X (comes with AppleCare), my machine has been humming along nicely. Throw Mac Janitor in there for good measure and you're nearly unstoppable. :)

Re: First a backup hard drive then Disk Warrior

I recently had a problem where when I tried to open my applications folder the desktop icons would disappear and the applications folder and window would close. I reinstalled the system software preserving the users and network settings (it backs up previous system also) so I'm back in working order BUT the old applications folder is still a problem. It won't let me touch it...anything I try to do with the previous applications folder won't work. I need to do some repair to erradicate this problem so I'll be purchasing some of these software suggestions shortly.

I must certainly agree with gopher. External Hard Drives have come down in price and they are an excellent insurance policy if you consider your files to be essential.
I am currently using Disk Warrior (OS X) and it is very simple to use. I do have Drive 10 but use it rarely. I no longer use Nortons. Just plain ugly and slow.
I look forward to the availability of Tech Tool for OS X at my local Apple Reseller. I see that TT3 is available through Mac Warehouse here in Canada. Think I'll dump Drive 10 and purchase TT3.
Returning to the External HD issue, I have placed an OS onto it and can boot from it when using tools to check the main Hard Drive. This seems to work quite well. Besides, I feel far more secure in the knowledge that I have backed up all of my files on the external.

Absolutely. The only real solution to drive problems is to backup early and often so that a catastrophic drive problem is only a minor annoyance instead of a life altering cataclysm. That being said, a good drive utility or two is a pretty nice thing to have. :)

if you want backup at all, go for Deja Vu... It's not as powerful as carbon copy cloner, but it can do the basics like backup a file, directory or disk to a directory or disk... much nicer scheduling than CCC. My system backs up every night just how i want it, and i never have to worry about it... then i run norton (i know, i just haven't bought DW yet) once every 6 or 9 months, and i have a system that's safe enough for my needs--

Oh boy! Norton is deadly.

As for your backups, are they bootable? Have you been able to backup single files larger than 5 GB?
I tried other backup utilities like Tri Edre, and found my VirtualPC file did not get backed up. It would be nice to know if there is another backup utility that makes a bootable backup that doesn't care how large files are or their permissions other than Carbon Copy Cloner and Retrospect Express.
