Recommend Ultra Compacts Good In Low Light

I have a compact Canon Powershot A95 and am looking for a cheap pocketable ultra compact of at least 3 megapixels I can take with me to concerts. I prefer canon but I need a camera that can shoot in low light without flash. Has anyone had any experience with the Canon SD110? Thanks.

A tough job for a tiny lens. To see in the dark you need big eyes ;)

I know, its an oxymoron of technology. The more research I do the less likely it seems ill find what I am looking for. My compact canon has great low light. It fits in my pocket but only reasonably well.
 
I've taken some decent pictures at a concert with my Canon SD300, without flash. The key is to use the menu and select "Night Mode". It helps a lot, but shutter speed is still an issue (without jacking up the ISO). Also keep in mind these guys are jumping around, so blurry pics will be common. Using the continuous shooting mode will help. Wish I thought of it before I screwed up 80% of my pictures.

You can also consider taking video clips. At my last concert (SoaD), I took 688mb of video with my SD300 (320x240@30fps, about 20min). Turned out pretty good, but sound was, of course, crappy at best.

The best part was "Security." They frisked everyone before we went it, felt right over my camera in my right pocket, and wallet in left, and asked me if my phone was in my thigh pocket (it was). They even missed my friend's pocket knife clipped to his right pocket.

Well one advantage I have is the band I will be seeing soon, Sigur Ros, wont be moving much at all.

Irregardless of his status, he's right. If a mod had spotted it earlier, one would have been shut down.

You might also find fewer responses. Several long-term posters can get so irritated with multiple posts with the same question, that they don't answer either thread.

Start one... if it's in the wrong place, a mod will move it. If you get no response in a few days, then try again elsewhere.

They could have shut one down, I dont care. But I think this petty, childish game of pointing the finger is absolutely ridiculous for adults to be playing.

I don't think Abstract was trying to finger point. I think he was just letting you know so that next time you have a question, you know the score. The FAQs do say that... but let's face it, I don't think anyone reads them before they jump in.

Believe me, people can get far more petty than this ;) and not everyone on here is a an adult

A PM would have been adequate then. Not that it is anything highly personal but his wording was annoying. I cannot stand whining.
 
as much as this little dual post discussion is, I think that the ney Olympus Stylus (800 and another, I think) and the Konica-Minolta Dimage X1 are deserving of attention in this thread, esp. the olympus(es?)

EDIT: The KM Dimage uses optical anti-shake, which is very useful (esp in low-light video capture)
The Stylus is now the 810. It is 8MP, has ISO 1600 (and 3200 !! @ 3MP).
Here's the DPR article on it and the stylus 700. THE KILLER FEATURE, IMO IS A DEDICATED GYRO SENSOR, which is used to edit out motion blur post-capture.

I think that the Stylus should be your TOP choice, then the K-M and the F10/11

What a coincidence, neither can I.....and I didn't. I basically stated a fact. Take it with you. Keep it in your pocket for next time.

If you're confident that you're not doing anything wrong, then why don't you post one of these threads in even more forums? The Community and Pictures forum definitely need one each.
 
Yeah, I am quite sure that double posting isn't allowed...I think he was just trying to tell you that.

The only compact camera out there that will do what you want is the Fuji F10/11 - no other compact comes close to its low light performance.
