Hi,

I've recently acquired a Mac Pro 4.1 MB535LL early 2009, for roughly £500.

My question is, what are some recommend upgrades?

I've already upgraded the ram (32GB). I also have an SSD laying around that I'll be putting in fairly soon.

Congratulations on your new machine, I got one of these a few months back and I'm very happy with it. I would go for the CPU and graphics card upgrades next.

If the RAM isn't 1300 MHz I would return if possible and get it.

1300 will typically run at 1067 just fine but if you ever do the "5,1 Flash" you'll wish you had 1300.

An SSD is a good start.

Ideally you'd be wanting to slap a pair of hex core CPUs in there, but that could cost you more than the machine itself.

USB3 and SATA3 cards are cheap if you do a search here for the compatible ones. I'm not sure if GTX 680s are coming down in price with the new 7x0s out, there are plenty of PC versions that can be flashed with the Mac ROM.
