Hi Everyone! I am new here, I am looking for recommendations on workstations/chairs for my home office. I have worked from home as a website/graphics designer for 4 years, I now have tendinitis as a result of to much laptop time and sitting on a recliner and not in the proper position so I am investing in a good workstation since I spend alot of time on a computer.

Any advice would be great, I bought a cheap desk and chair from staples and regret it dearly now I am looking into ergonomic equipment and voice recognition software for some of my work.

A recliner?!?!? I hope not as in one of those "Lazy-boy recliner"????

Don't know what your budget is, but the Herman Miller Aeron chair would be ideal for you. They're not cheap, but highly customizable. The one I'd like is almost $2,000 CND (although they start at around $500 USD).

If you're serious about investing in an excellent work chair, do check them out. :)

lol yes I am dead serious and it is a lazy boy!!!! :) It worked for a while very well but because of having my arm rest on the chair (right arm) for so long it caused serious problems and now i have tennis elbow, I dont even play tennis! haha ... anyway I am dead serious about getting something that works well because I work from about 7am-330pm then again from 7pm-11pm daily and need something good.

I second the Heman Miller chairs, they are top quality and little pricey but well worth it in the end.

Check out IKEA for work stations, they have tons of combinations and the majority are customizeable. Some of the stuff is cheap and intended for students but they also have a high end line for small business. Personally, I like the GALANT system, I used this workstation for years and found it held up very well. I also like the contemporary design. You can choose from several different finishes, legs, sizes, shapes etc. etc.

Also, look into a wrist brace for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (or tennis elbow). I know a couple people who have developed this from the repetitive use of a mouse on a daily business. Both of them have said that these braces were a huge help. There are several different kinds, so you may want to discuss things with your Dr. as he would likely be able to advise you on the best style based on your specific symptoms.
