Can someone please recommend a good Android tablet for drawing, sketching and digital painting for about $500? I'd prefer one that is actually designed to use with a stylus, if possible, like the iPad Pro is designed to work with a stylus, rather than having to buy a third party stylus that may not be as effective.

Thanks.

Go for the Note Pro 12.2 - you should be able to get it for £350 these days.

Download the following -

Any idea if Samsung is still making the Note Pro 12.2? I pulled it up on a coupe of websites and the ones I looked at seemed like they were discontinued?

So is Samsung no longer marketing/selling a tablet that comes with an S Pen?

Thanks.

I'm in the US. I do not understand specs very well and hate the idea of buying a discontinued model that might also have older specs? If I were to do this another way and just buy a high end Android tablet and a third party pen:

1. What is a high end tablet in the Android market these days?
2. Which 3rd party pen should I consider?

Thanks!

The Samsung Tab A 9.7" supports S-Pen

Sadly rest of the specs are not great. 1024x768 screen resolution for example.

If you can, hold out till next month as the Mobile World Congress is on, it's the big yearly event where the manufactures show off their new mobile tech they are launching, their is a chance Samsung may announce a new Note Pro device, they have launched a giant 18" Android device after all. It is very obvious in Samsung's range that they have a tremendously powerful phablet with a stylus, but are lacking a powerful tablet with a stylus.

Don't buy a tablet that requires a 3rd party pen if inking is important to you.

Get an iPad Pro, a Samsung tablet with S-Pen, or a Windows tablet with dedicated active digitiser (http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/thr...0-tablets-and-convertibles-with-stylus.67533/).

On Android, as far as I know Samsung have always been the only manufacturer making tablets with dedicated active digitisers.

In what ways will it make a difference when using a tablet with the built in active digitizer vs. getting one like this and adding a 3rd party stylus? Pressure sensitivity? Cant that be handled within the apps? http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SM-T810NZWEXAR

I was also thinking of the possibility of using the large Samsung View tablet with a 3rd party pen. Thoughts on that?

Thanks for the responses.
The biggest issue is that the apps have to support that third party Bluetooth pen. This can be hit and miss. Meaning you could buy a Bluetooth stylus and then find most of the apps you want to use it with don't support it. It can be frustrating.

Likewise the pressure sensitivity and accuracy whilst improved still isn't as good as something with an active digitiser.

It's certainly an option, its just not a great one unless you check all the apps you need and find a Bluetooth pen that is most supported between them.

Hi, you should try a Wacom tablet. It is really helpful for drawing, sketching, animation and much more. It is inexpensive. So, don't waste more money on other tablet.

Samsung own a small stake in Wacom, the tablets (recommended) mentioned in this thread before it was unceremoniously thread resurrected are actually utilising wacom digitisers ....... But of course you knew that right ;)
