Recommended camera apps for controlling ISO, shutter, aperture

Using a 7+ I'm thinking of getting a 3rd party app to shoot DNG and be able to control shutter, ISO and aperture.

1. Which app would you recommend for doing this?
2. Do the apps really improve quality of the photos? I'm just wondering since the camera isn't designed for this level of control.

If you want to focus just on photography and don't need unnecessary features like video and filters, then Manual is the way to go.

With a host of additional features Camera doesn't have. Camera is a good app, but somewhat limited in scope.

"Manual" if you want control in an "apple-like" simple way.

"645 PRO" if you really love how complicated SLRs are and want to see similar controls on your phone.

"Camera+" if you're more of an app-fan than a camera-fan and want a really well made app that doesn't presend to be anything but.

"Camera!" if, for some reason, you just don't like Camera+ and want something that's pretty similar but a bit simpler.

"FiLMic Pro" if you're trying to shoot movies instead of stills.


I like all of these apps, I wouldn't say that one is best, just that one may be more right for your personality. You should at least take a look at them all.

EDIT: If you are trying to shoot RAW then you've gotta go with "Manual" for now. But I'm sure they'll all be adding it soon. I wouldn't necessarily base your decision on that.

EDIT EDIT: Also, none of these control aperture. The camera is a fixed aperture. But having control over shutter and ISO is still pretty great.

What do you mean by they are just reskins of the same thing? Are all of these apps using the same underlying code with different interfaces, filters, effects?

Camera+ has not included RAW support yet. Apparently it's on their roadmap but no release date yet.
