so I'm looking for some replacement feet pads for the MacBook baseplate on some 2008-2012 unibody era MacBooks.

has anyone determined some particularly good brand or source of these that are as close to the original OEM apple ones?

Search Amazon. There are many choices, all under $10 for models A1278 A1286 A1297 A1398 A1425 A1502 and probably generic rubber feet in case you can't find the exact type. Ebay might have them too.

I know they exist, I have already searched them. "There are many choices" which his precisely the point of my post – I want to buy the best ones, not any one of them. I thought this would be a good place to ask as I'm sure at least one or two members have tried different brands

I think that's a fool's errand. Chances are they are all the same product anyway. There aren't a multitude of manufacturers making these things. And I doubt you'll find anyone on the internet who has purchased them all and made any significant comparison. Essentially, you're just asking random people to make a choice for you. So here is my recommendation. It's the cheapest.

I got mine for my MBP 13" 2010 on iFixit long time ago (circa 2016-2017) ... don't know if they'll be still available, I hope so. I can give you the reference: "MBP & MB Unibody Rubber Feet" - product code: IF163-052-1

I still have 3 left in its original bag, the product code comes from there

At least in the reviews on that link, there is someone offering insight that im looking for.

The reviewer says the linked feet are plastic not rubber. So they will afford you little grip as the originals were intended for.

He recommended a brand by infinite, which are actually rubber and do fulfil the purpose of the rubber feet.

This validates why people should do some due diligence.

I'll check out the ifxit as well
I was curious when I posted that pic to you and it seems they don't list that exact SKU anymore, they're just offering the "plastic feet" with code IF163-052-2 instead of the IF163-052-1 "rubber feet" I have, sad :(

Hope you can find some good grippy ones. Good luck!
