Hi

I am a lifelong Windows user who just bought my first MacBook Pro M4 Pro laptop 😁 80% of my current work is done in SSH client/server administration and web browser, with growing new work with AI. I have been using the SecureCRT/SecureFX bundle for the past two decades on Windows https://www.vandyke.com/products/securecrt/features.html.

While SecureCRT/FX supports Windows, Linux and MacOS and iOS, it's per device licensing so at US$203/license >1 device, I thought I'd see what other alternatives are out there that have similar SecureCRT features for tabbed browsing sessions, button bars, separating credential and session data profile storage, large scrollback line buffers (128K), multi session editor (bulk change session profiles).

What are folks here using for their SSH and SFTP clients? Ideally, the alternatives would support both Windows and MacOS so I can use on either platform and support importing SecureFX exported backup sessions.

I know of Termius, which supports importing SecureFX exported XML sessions (https://termius.com/), though the Pro license costs US$10/yr or US$120/yr.

cheers

I'm using the Kitty terminal emulator, with the standard OpenSSH client. Kitty has special support for SSH: https://sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/kittens/ssh/ which pushes the xterm-info specific to Kitty and also the configuration files for ZSH and Neovim when I login to my own (virtual) machines so that I only have to maintain them one time.

Configuration of the SSH connections is over the standard SSH settings (~/.ssh), with 1Password configured as SSH Agent (IdentityAgent).

If you want an all-in-one GUI-based application, this is not it ;)

For SFTP I use Cyberduck.

VanDyke Software's license agreement does allow you to use SecreCRT on one additional computer with the same license as long as the software is in use on only one system at a time:

You may also use a copy of the Software on one additional computer, provided you make certain only one copy of the Software is "in use" at a time.

Ah guess not then but thanks for sharing

Yup, I'll need a new license for MacOS. Seems, Termius only cheaper once I have 3+ PCs compared to SecureCRT. Termius does support importing SecureCRT exported XML files.

I tried Termius trial and seems their idea of folder/groups doesn't have any custom organisation other than alphabetical ? With SecureCRT, you an custom create folders/sub folders similar to Windows folders to organise host groups while Termius lumps them all one one page.

I have to manage over 900+ hosts :) So curious what other folks are using for SSH.
