Looking to get a gaming headset for my Mac so I can leave my QC3s at the office. I had a set of DXL1s when I had my 360, and while I found them comfortable and was happy with the surround, the mess of wires was ridiculous.

To add to this, I would prefer to go wireless if possible since I have 2 cats that like to chew on wires, but I don't want to quite jump into Astro A50 territory on the price. I'd still consider a wired setup if it didn't have a crazy setup like my DXL1 did.

Would prefer to spend around $120 max. I've looked at Turtle Beach again and a few others, but am interested in hearing from any others that are using specifically for Mac. Thanks!

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else was in the market. I tried the Turtle Beach PX3 but the one I bought must have been DOA; it just wouldn't charge. Their tech support had me download a Windows-only program to reset to factory defaults. That threw up a red flag. Installed it on my work laptop and it still wouldn't work. So I sent it back for a refund.

Went out the other day and picked up the Sony Gold wireless headset. Works flawlessly, and I am pleased. Will also work in Windows if I decide to Bootcamp again some day.

I don't think the surround works on PC/Mac though -- just stereo, but I find it comfortable for my head, and the hidden mic has noise canceling.

Thanks for the update.

I hadn't really considered wireless before, but I am sick of all my cabling. You have inspired me to consider my options!

They may not be the best. And I'm sure there are better headsets for the price. But you could check out the Playstation Gold headset, it's $100, so well within your budget.

I found that with mac it's plug and play to get the wireless running. You just need to change the sound output setting to go with the USB rather than the normal speaker setup. And I'd assume the microphone would be the same thing to get it set up.

I had bought the headset for my PS3/4, and was very excited to see that both OS X and Windows 8.1 had a 10 second setup to use the wireless dongle. As another plus, you can still use a cord and use them for other things like your phone.

That's what I picked up actually, the Sony Gold wireless headset. But I only paid around $80. Was on sale at Best Buy.

What do you think of it so far?

And as a bonus, since you can use it in wireless, you can use the bass boost mode (setting the switch to option 2). I don't believe there's an option to mess with the 3 option equalizer through anything besides one of the sony consoles though.
