I would like to find a program(s) that would record video chat sessions and would be able to broadcast my desktop live via iChat or some other program. I am new to Mac and ny friend and I both just got Macbooks and I would like to see things on his computer or him see things on mine for teaching me how to do different things on Mac.

Chicken of the VNC (free) is all you need. Your Mac has a built-in VNC server (System Preferences...->Sharing->Services->Turn on "Apple Remote Desktop" and set it up with a password). Enable port 5900 (or, say 5900-5902 or so) on your router and built-in Firewall, then use something like http://DynDNS.org to get a dynamic DNS address for free, then use CotVNC - or any VNC client - to access your MacBook from his, or vice versa.

You won't be able to chat while doing so, but it'll provide a live Desktop view.

Edit: it's expensive, but Snapz Pro X is the only decent recording app out there. Screenshots are free, but recording the desktop live? Not cheap.

I chat with and help my mom all the time by having her point her iSight at her screen. Since, in your case, your iSight is built into the screen, this would not be as easy... unless you used a mirror to show your screen to your friend (but this doesn't sound practical, I guess, but it would be free and something you could do right now).
