Gargeband or Live 4 or Live 5. I mostly use garageband for getting the riffs that I want, then I record it in Live 4. I am using a Boss GT-6 floor multi-effects pedal. I run that through an M-Audio Firewire Solo.

Yup I just bought my M-Audio F/W 410 interface a few weeks ago.

I've got the gear and tons of recording experience, but learning the software presents a tremendous learning curve for me.

ProTools just came out with a new MBox 2, but it's still USB, so you're actually better of with an M-Audio F/W interface that can handle Garage Band, Live, Logic, Motu, Cubase OR ProTools M-Powered.

If you're recording acoustic or vocals it really helps
to have a minimum 2 simultaneous mike inputs.

Stay away from m-audio's guitar usb interface. It's the cheapest of the interfaces. I think it's about $100. Don't buy it. There is a terrible delay when playing the guitar through it. It's only USB 1.1 not USB 2.0. Pay $200 and get the m-audio firewire solo. You can also put a mic into it and play and sing at the same time.

You do not want to HOT plug any M-Audio F/W
interfaces into your system period!
Still they are far superior to any USB device.

I'm actually very surprised that the brand new M-Box
is still USB 1.1
How stooopid Digidesign.
