It's been a while since I posted here...lot's of major things happening here including a break-up with a GF for so many years. Anyway, I'm dealing with it right now so pardon me if I'm a little off.

One thing about after a break-up is that you end up doing things you've always wanted to do but couldn't find the time during the relationship, and in my case, I've started experimenting so much on my still new MBP C2D purchased a couple of months ago. I'm happy to say the MBP is really living up to what it's made for. As a musician, I never really thought Garageband can do so much until I tried it...with ease!

I've always wanted to purchase a DVD recorder for a long time now but couldn't do it. Somehow I've always known that there's a better alternative out there. Long and behold, after searching the net, I've discovered a way to use my MBP to record HD...yes HD from my cable box. And let me say: WOW!!! This was probably tackled here before so I might be just repeating things but for those who wants a breakdown of how to do it (and it's soooo easy), I'll be gald to help.

It's great to be back here! :)

I'm guessing your cable box has a Firewire port and you use DVHS? That was the solution last time I heard. That was a while ago though. I wouldn't mind trying it myself someday when I get HD service. Dunno if I'll go with cable, satellite, or FiOS though (assuming I can figure out where the hell FiOS service is around the SFV area).

Yes, you're right killmoms, it's through firewire and I know this has been done for a while now and i never really tried it until recently. Was a bit skeptical myself but a soon as I got an update of my cable box recently, I thought I'd try it and it sure paid off...saving me $$$$ in the process...what am I saying?...it's FREE!!!!
