ive been recording sound from my audio card with wiretap pro. they've always sounded like crap compared to the original. all this time i thought it was wiretap but when i open the recorded file in other programs such as quicktime or vlc they sound exactly like the original. so what wrong with itunes? it also sounds crappy in my ipod too. is this some kind of protection feature or somthing?

What format are the files? Have you tried converting them to something else? Technically this should lose quality but considering it keeps the original file you may as well give it a go to make sure iTunes isn't just having issues with the format. :)

iTunes uses QuickTime for playback...so I really don't see why iTunes would have a problem while QuickTime doesn't...are you sure it's not just some weird setting, like with the equalizer or something?
