Recovering data from flash drive?

I know this is a long shot. I also know that I'm an idiot for saving an irreplaceable file to a flash drive, only to plug it in again 5 minutes later and discover that the drive is blank. I know for a fact that I saved the file and ejected it properly. Is there any way to recover data from a flash drive?

Its for windows but maybe it can help you, its also a long shot. Oh and whatever yu do, dont write ANYTHING onto the flash drive or else it could be gone forever...

Oh and could it be that you maybe never even saved the file to the drive in the first place?
