A few days ago, while on vacation, i accidently deleted an SMS thread on my iPhone. So as soon as i got back i stopped the automatic backup (so it didn't overwrite my old backup.) However, during the restore from backup process, i remembered that I had some photos on my Iphone that I took on vacation. I stopped the restore from backup process, but my photos on my camera roll were no longer there. Is there a way to scan my iphone with some data recovery software? I have tried many ways to mount it as a hard drive, but none of them seem to work. Or it works and the data recovery software doesn't see it. any suggestions?

Don't quote me on it but the only thing I could think of would be to jailbreak the phone and then use recovery software, but data written while jailbreaking may overwrite the photos.

i doubt that....they are in there somewhere.....i hope

any suggestions?

Yeah, you are SOL. :)

They are most likely still there, but the labor to get them might be more than is worth it. I've done some forensic recoveries on the iPhone and it's an intensive process to say the least. If done properly, the device can be jailbroken without affecting your personal data (they reside in 2 different mount points) and potentially the pics can be recovered after capturing the entire file-system.

i forgot to mention that my iPhone is jailbroken. The problem is that when I started the restore from backup and then stopped it, it somehow erased the photos. If I could either figure out how to mount my iphone on my mac as an external hard drive and use some data recovery software to scan it to find the photos or possibly find out if there is someplace on the iphone they may be hidden at (which I doubt there is.)
