Hi there,
nice to meet you all, I'm Mirco and I'm a newbie of this forum!

I'm having problems to fix the recovery loop problem on my iPhone 3GS.
It is jailbreaked and I guess it is still iOS 5.

I tried with Tinyumbrella and iReb, but both of them are not working and the phone is still stucked at the iTunes + cable screen.

I cannot either go in DFU to try to fix the problem with redsn0w (it needs to have the phone in DFU).

The biggest problem is that I do not have ANY backup on my actual computer and all of my backups are in my computer which is 1200KM away from where actually I am located!

I truly hope that someone of you could help me to figure this out cause I do not want to lose everything!
At least I want to recover my important stuff (contacts, messages and blabla) and then I'll restore everything again with iTunes and jailbreak again, but from the beginning!

Hope someone can help me, it would be so appreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

download iFunBox and plug it into your device, see if it detects your 3GS

if it does, then you have access to the file system and can recover some stuff (but not all)

i don't quite remember if iOS 5.x had the afc2add service bundled in or not

hey darricksailo!
thanks for your answer!

sadly it seems that iFunBox is not detecting my iPhone..

btw, it would be great if I could access to my phone for the last time, cause I know there are some stuff that I won't be able to recover through a file manager or similars..

do you have any other suggestion?

thanks for your help anyway :)

Did you ever install openssh from cydia? That service has a higher chance of running than the afc service does in situations like yours

yes I've openssh installed on the phone!
how can I get the best from openssh?

@Applejuiced: which hardware problem are you talking about? I guess I do not have any hardware problem (ok, it's old but it's running!)

thank you both, I really appreciate your help!

See if you can ssh via usb to access the file system. The client I use is WinSCP

To me it sounds like you have a hardware issue if its stuck on a recovery boot loop and you cant get it out of it.
If it wont go into dfu mode and wont restore with itunes then its a hardware issue. Just my guess.

i interpreted as he doesn't want to restore via DFU mode until he backed up his stuff

Yes!
Even if it could be an hardware issue, it would be really great to have access for the last 10 minutes of its life :)

I tried with WinSCP and it's not working too!

Are there any other way or workaround to kick it out from this recovery loop, or at least to retrieve files?

If I could go into DFU mode I could jailbreak it again -which maybe could help- or try the recovery loop fix via redsn0w (which requires to have the phone in DFU).
Could this help me out somehow?

Thanks again to both of you!

How are you trying to connect to your device using ssh over usb?

If even the ssh service isn't running and tinyumbrella can't kick it out, then there isn't much you can do

Yes, I follow some instructions and it should be via USB.

But since I cannot either use iTunes, how could I fix it?
Cause maybe if it's a hardware problem, that wouldn't get rid of my files, since it's not the memory, and I could just install the software later by myself.

I repeat, just in case is a hardware problem!

Oh I get it now.
Thanks:)
He's just trying to somehow back it up before he restores.

No, once you restore or dfu restore all software and info on it is gone and erased. If you don't have a backup of it saved on itunes then its all bye bye.
Try what darricksailo suggested and if still nothing then you're out of luck.

I tried everything and it is still in the loop!
Should I just throw it on the wall and find a new phone?!

It seems yes :|

Thank you in any case for all your help!
