I installed DP2 and it wiped out my recovery partition. I installed DP3 and recovery partition still lost. Anyone else lost recovery partition? I found partition missing after I tried to re-enable "Find My Mac," and it would not enable. Anyone else having this problem?

I'll go ahead and post another thread asking about "Find My Mac" issues.

Thanks.

It's not missing, it's just no longer listed on an option-boot. Use cmd+r on boot to get to it.

Nope ... its gone ... the Yosemite installer repartitioned the entire 1 TB SSD and did not recreate or spare the Recovery Partition ... its not there at all.

I used a recover tool and found the deleted sectors ... but recovering the partition is beyond me ... coming late to Mac, I'm not familiar with terminal commands and not apt to at this stage.

It's not there ...

If you boot with cmd+r held what do you get?

I get the choices as in attached jpg ...that is I get my SSD with 10.10 on it ... and two of my external drives with backup mirror images. There is no recovery partition .. it isn't hidden ... its just not there. I am attempting to recover it with a recovery app ...

Mine did not show either, but when I did a cmd+r, it installed Yosemite. Still waiting for your question to be answered to the other posters..

See the answer I provided to OP. I think what's happening with CMD R is that you are causing the partition with 10.10 to launch ... not reinstalling it. At least that's that is happening to me ... the recovery partition is gone ... I am trying to recover it with specialized app ... but its gone and cannot be found by start up disk, disk doctor or Yosemite Recovery HD 2. Its gone ... and it was removed as part of the Yosemite install ... Apple needs to make sure the final version of Yosemite Upgrade has a routine that creates a recovery partition and verifies it.

I actually still have my recovery partition but still can't enable Find My Mac because it says I don't have a recovery partition

Hmmmm ... I thought was the missing piece to enabling FMM.

EDIT== I see PB 3 is missing in action..

DP 8 came with Recovery Update 3.0. I wonder if PB 3 also came with an update -

Try installing PB3 and see if it makes a new one - if it's possible.

don't get me wrong, I believe it is. there's just more wrong with this issue that needs to be resolved.

I'm on public beta. updating didn't resolve the issue for me. but in the past it wouldn't unless the drive was completely bare (no partitions at all; and I have mavericks and yosemite along with bootcamp). I'm waiting for the final release and then I'll do a clean install if it doesn't resolve before then.

Perhaps I wasn't crystal clear ... the recovery partition is NOT hidden ... it was removed, deleted ... its just not there. I know Disk Util has the Debug List All option, but the partition needs to be there ... albeit hidden to be discovered and restored. Yosemite install DELETED the recovery partition. Its not there ...well ... unless I want to spend $140 its not there ... there is a piece of specialized S/W that will find the "lost" partition if its not been overwritten too much ... but at this point its been a few weeks and probably a moot point.

Thanks for the tip ...

How did you get DP 8? Its not available via the Apple Store Update and I can't get it from Apple development site. When I check on Apple Development site for latest released build it reports as DP 7, aka build OS X 10.10 (14A361p). Just asking so I can get it too... thanks.
