Guess silly to ask if you had an external backup? Try Prosoft's Data Rescue 3 as it has a trial mode to see what it can recover before paying your $100.00. Just click on the DEMO pane:- https://www.prosofteng.com/data-rescue-recovery-software/ Reactions: bernuli

By 'backup' the Apple time machine had failed unbeknownst to me and when I went to recover from the back up......no files. Oh well. I'll see if I can get an adapter an just plug it in to the USB and as you say see what happens. Thanks everyone.
