Apple replaced my first iPad Pro with a brand new tablet because of this strange screen ‘burnt image’ but it’s happened again to the replacement one and now it’s no longer under warranty. Any ideas what it is? Possibly the charger?

No, and it’s spreading outwards. Started off as a feint yellow patch about a month back and now has darker inner glow.

Hey both, yes it’s the original charger and, yes, it’s in the exact same place. I’m no screen engineer but it does look like an overheating / overcharging issue. I’m thinking they should replace the iPad and the charger. Any idea how I can appeal a mis-diagnosed issue which has lead to a repeat fault that’s no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty?

Yellow spot is caused by excessive heat. There’s no expiration on safety issue. Have them replace the iPad, charger and charging cable.

Bit when I rang support they said they could only offer a return to shop option and, with it showing up as out of warranty, that’s going to cost me to replace it, right? I mean, I don’t think I should cause it does seem like they mis-diagnosed. Like they’ve bandaged the wound when they should have bandaged the knife?

Email Tim Cook with link to pictures and this thread. Tell him you’d like a replacement vs it burning down your house. If they drag their feet just contact a few news outlets to run your quality issue. Apple doesn’t like negative PR.

Looks like an overheat issue and that’s a safety hazard. They need to replace that ASAP.

I’d request a manager on the phone if they don’t take this serious as a potential safety problem.

I looked back into the original purchase and found out it was Amazon, who have a standard 2 year warranty. I’m hoping they’ll be able to unravel it for me.
