Hi!

My old rMBP from 2013 is fully broken and the second SSD gave up and is unreadable by any mechanism that I know of.

What is the best way to have Apple recycle it without going to the store? I could leave it on the green wheelie bin during weekly collection as a small electronic but I'm not sure of how well the council will do with recycling versus Apple? Obviously any apple stores remain closed until 2 DEC.

Many thanks and have a nice weekend!

List it on eBay, someone will buy it and fix it up. Just make sure you list it as not working. If you can’t wipe the SSD remove it for security.

Nah, it's destroyed.

all plastic legs broken
3000+ battery cycles
hinges worn down on the T from dust rubbing so can't hook another T key on
several keys worn through the top so that the white full light illuminates through
several dents with scratches all over
screen dim with about 40 pixels stuck on
all of my chargers have a broken cable

I don't want to take the time to open it again but would like to see it recycled by a reputable operation, hence Apple, but maybe I am incorrect

I'd prefer NOT to sell it as it will cause a headache in the future.

OK fair enough. Look on your local council website for recycling guidance. In South Gloucestershire you can leave it next to the rubbish and they will collect it with the weekly rubbish collection.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing unless someone here provides evidence that Apple does a better job of it than the local council.

Apple will does a better job because they will recycle those aluminum for use in their new products. The problem is you have to bring it in yourself.
