iPad Red notification dot without number

I have started noticing this more and more, the notification dot appearing without a number, can anyone explain what it is for?

Was just about to post the same thing. Who knows whether it’s a bug or a new feature. Doesn’t seem app specific thought. Had it appear on the App Store too, so it’s not even anything to do with third party apps.
