Not sure of how authentic/accurate this reddit user is with these leaks... But there's a whole lot of interesting info in these posts. I'm surprised this hasnt been mentioned in these forums yet.

Some highlights of the claims he seems sure of:

He is certain a 14" ARM Macbook Pro will be announced at Tuesday's event and will ship end of the month or early Oct - this is the claim he seems to be most confident about. All other sources say 14" won't be released until next year. So if this actually happens Tuesday all the items below will also likely be accurate.

Apple silicon chips will have different tiers but not like intels. "They're more based on what features areactually on the chip. Pro chips will have dedicated engines for specific tasks while something like the 12" macbook will get a simple processor for everday users."

iPhone 12 release next week.

13" Intel Macbook Pro will exists along side the 14" during the transition period but will be phased out eventually.

16" ARM Macbook Pro Spring next year.

16" Intel Macbook Pro not getting anymore updates this year.

12" ARM macbook next year.

No more iPad Pro updates this year.

Windows with ARM support will eventually come for silicon macs.

Portless iPhones two years out

Apple is making a carOS for car manufactures.

If this happens I'll be back on Android, permanently. I highly, highly doubt this. Apple would probably lose about 50% of its iPhone userbase.

Most everything else on that list is also pretty far-fetched. While I strongly believe the iPhone 12 will be announced in 2 days, it will definitely not be released yet. The 12" MacBook is most likely going to be the first Mac released, this year not next.

I am not sure whether I believe that a 14" Pro will be announced tomorrow... Apple usually holds separate events for Mac and Watch/Phone product releases.

Things that do sound very reasonable to me based on extrapolated iPad performance

We’ll see the 14” MacBook pro. Quite some time will be spent on talking about the new SoCs for Macs. Performance will be comparable to the 16” MacBook Pro.

The internally designed gpus performed remarkably well against the Radeon pro 5500M

This suggests a 8+4 core CPU and a 16 core GPU, as predicted.

trust me, if apple will ditch the port on iphones, the rest of the world will start doing the same
So you can go android, but you will need to hurry since 2-3 years apple will remove the port, every major android phones will had that removed too

hard to belive that, at least for 2020...bec the 14" will not be comparable at gpu with the current 5600M , and i dont think apple is ready to ship those custom made gpu so soon

I don't think it'll be that high (or anywhere close). Portless could still include the smart connector, which would take care of non-Qi charging.

Also as @fokmik wrote, a lot of Android OEMs likely will follow suit anyway. Samsung will spend 1-2 years mocking Apple and its users for it and then join in when they've milked that enough.

Because no rumor is talking about iMac, Mac Minis or Mac Pros. It's always MacBook here, MacBook there. But I don't want or need a notebook, I need I new iMac to replace my 11 year old 21,5" modell. ?

A 24" iMac is rumoured to be one of the first out the gate to replace the 21.5" - made all the more plausible as the 21.5" wasn't updated alongside the 27" a couple of weeks back. That was Kuo's prediction for the first AS Macs (13" MBP and 24" iMac) - and neither of those models got proper (i.e. CPU) updates this year, just slight spec tweaks.

Talk about a 12" MacBook, 13" MacBook Air and now 14" MacBook pro has come about later, and seems to be possibly more speculation than leak.

Going portless allows apple to save on cost, and wireless charging is now mature enough for widespread use, and most people use some sort of wireless headphones/earbuds anyway since the iPhone 7 got rid of the 3.5mm jack.

trust us....we had 24" imac rumour for some time...that is also a redesign with an ipad pro in mind. Check the history
So, dont worry..yes, rumours about mac pro probably in 2022..because i suspect that one will be the last to go arm based

Not the 5600M, but I wouldn't be surprised if they can match the 5500M. Using a 16 core GPU should do the trick.

I’m not sure about the veracity of the post but I could absolutely see the first ARM Mac being announced tomorrow, especially if they aren’t announcing iPhones.

I usually have a very hard time trusting someone who answers 95% of the Q&A that was sent his way and claiming his sources are "talkative engineers" , he needs to know so many engineers from all over Apple to know all the things he answered about , and what makes it even less credible is that he also answers with confidence about pricing , there is 0% chance that any engineer knows anything about pricing , its a VERY restricted information , so now he also knows high level managers who like to talk to ppl outside of Apple about pricing ?

That’s the dumbest idea on the planet. What’s next, cars without wheels? This sounds very, very unlikely to me and not even remotely believable to be 100% honest. It makes zero sense from any perspective.

There will always be an Android phone somewhere out there that has what Apple doesn’t. Like a headphone jack. Lot’s still do. Also SD cards.

I do not own BT earphones and will never jump on the everything Bluetooth and wireless bandwagon. I’ll keep my amazing sounding Focal headphones, and my home network with literally everything connected via ethernet.
Wireless charging can mature all it wants. I hope you don’t plan on ever using your phone at the same as it’s charging I guess. Not to mention music in the car. Only 1 of my 6 vehicles has a BT stereo. And I still use USB because BT sounds like crap.

Unfortunately, Apple is one of those companies that doesn't provide a ton of flexibility to those that don't jump on their preferred technology bandwagon. Apple probably feels that it can move to portless without a ton of backlash, despite the numerous benefits (which you stated) of using wired. I also use ethernet for all of my devices which have ethernet ports, though the more recent bluetooth versions work better and have a higher rate of data transfer. But ultimately, I think Apple will do to the lightning port what they did to the headphone jack on the iPhone, and those who need to use their iPhone as a music player can change their setup, not the other way around.

I only need to charge my iPhone when I am sleeping.. so I don’t plan on using it while I sleep. Having a wired network however is totally awesome as long as you don’t care about sunlight. I do most of my work using WiFi on my deck 3/4 of the year. No cable needed.

Ditching the charging port makes sense. It illuminates the need for hardware including cables and bricks, frees up space for additional battery space or new tech - also eliminates a source of water ingress.

Not sure of how authentic/accurate this reddit user is with these leaks...

I can tell you now. The answer is 0.

  • Anonymous poster on Reddit - MacBook 14" to be launched 9/15
  • Ming-Chi Kuo (over a decade of credibility) - MacBook 14" in late 2Q21 or 3Q21

These anonymous Reddit posters are the same and they come every few years. They claim something completely different than established analysts. Their reasoning? Apple beefed up security this year and is spreading false info. Only he possesses the true info.

You simply can't beat analysts working on the ground in China/Taiwan who are watching the supply chain every hour.

Because it is BS.

Don't get me wrong, I want a 14" AMBP to be released but it is not being announced tomorrow or within the next month or two. They may give a mention to Arm progress and timeline but I highly doubt even that.

People said the same kind of things when Apple removed the headphone jack, optical disk drive, floppy disk drive, etc. Portless phones are the future and all Android manufacturers will eventually follow Apple's lead, regardless of how much you disagree or how stupid you think such a decision is.

Then why have I never heard of this before? A portless phone sounds even more crazy and radical then these old transparent phone “leaks”. 8BDD658E-DA15-4516-B6A9-9DDBB6B53DA7.jpeg

It is impractical, and makes zero sense. If it ever happens, it’ll be when mobile phones start to become obsolete. So probably not for about 20 years.

And no, this is different than the optical drive and headphone port thing. There are ways around both of those things. But without a port, a phone is about as useful as a brick. But you’re probably right about the lightning port. iPhones should’ve been using USB-C with the release of the X.
I only need to charge my iPhone when I am sleeping..
I work 12 hours shifts. If I don’t touch my phone that whole time, sure it might make it the whole 12 hours. That is a rarity. Normally I have to charge it at least once if not twice. And during that time I’m usually using it.
My phone is mainly charged in the car while connected to my stereo.
