Hi:

I have a 3G which was on 2.2.1. I upgraded to 3.0 (I think) in iTunes, but at the end it says I need the original AT&T SIM card to activate it, so I'm stuck on the emergency screen. I run Windows Vista and have installed iTunes 8.2 already.

Questions:
1. I need to install redsn0w first to jailbreak and then when ultrasn0w comes out I will run that..is that correct?
2. Is ultrasn0w something that you run from Cydia only?
3. Will running redsn0w on its own activate the phone even if there is no SIM card inside the phone, or a non-AT&T SIM card?

Thanks,

redsn0w / pwnagetool will jailbreak your device... However, to perform a carrier unlock, you need ultrasn0w. I'm patiently awaiting ultrasn0w, because I have a 2.2.1 iPhone on T-Mobile that I can't upgrade until that's released!

How can I install ultrasn0w on a phone with a T-Mobile SIM card installed?
I don't have access to a AT&T SIM, so is there ANY way I can get ultrasn0w?

The phone is already jailbroken.
