I'm trying to jailbreak my iPhone but redsnow will not recognize the firmware I've downloaded and I've downloaded it from several different sites? Any suggestions.

Google is your friend. Use finder. I have navigated to that folder many times, I promise it is there. *crosses heart* :p

The only one that came up was the one I downloaded on my desktop???

Seriously? Did you even try looking up the IPSW location on google? I guess I will just spoon-feed you the answer. Here.

I'm on windows but never mind I found it. and it still didn't work I read something about needing to use redsnow 0.8 but I can't find that version?

If you updated to 3.0 on the computer you are trying to JB on, the IPSW is already saved on the computer.

Do a search for it -------> iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Point Redsn0w to the Restore IPSW not any Custom Restore IPSW you may have downloaded.
