How much does setting it to reduced slow down the processor?
(g4 iBook 1.33 512)

My computer runs cooler, and is therefore more comfortable - i don't do much cpu intensive stuff, so temperature is a concern for me since I use it on my lap, etc often.

Just want to make sure I'm not lacking tons of processor speed in reduced.

Before diving into the specifics of your question, the answer is "fast enough." If it's running cooler and you're not having any trouble, you don't need the extra speed. Setting it to automatic is probably the best bet, since you won't be capped if you need the full power.

That said, I believe that the 1.33GHz G4 drops to around 700MHz, but someone else might have a more accurate memory.

Well seeing as the majority of my time is just music/internet/instant messaging, I think reduced will work fine.

700mhz seems a little low for just reduced, but I suppose I shouldn't speak as I don't know.. at all. =)

I'll just bump it back up when it's garageband time.
