If it's atmospheric haze, like a distant landscape shot, I usually color correct to reduce the blue and boost the greens. Boosting the contrast a bit can help.

Yep, increase contrast. I shot one day in the city and it was very hazy & was able to recover most photos by using the contrast. (& Then adjusting the other controls to make it look decent)
