I was an early adopter of Reeder way back in the day but was disappointed with the lack of a crucial feature. I was curious if people who are using the new version 2 can confirm a few things for me before I purchase.

When scrolling through your article list (see screenshot below for example) does Reeder mark the items as read while scrolling like Newsify or Feedly offer as an option?

The way I typically use RSS apps is to scroll the full list allowing it to remove/mark the old ones as read so the next time I open the app the fresh ones are at the top (hope that made sense).

Is there a workaround within Reeder that will allow me to duplicate this or something even better?

Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

It does not. Also, it still does not have a search feature, bizarrely enough.

Other that that and a couple of crashes when trying to load my large amount of RSS feeds (which have made desktop clients crash before...), it is the epitome of functional design (more so than Reeder 1). It looks VERY attractive, it's extremely fast and efficient at caching new articles and I find it is very intuitive and enjoyable to use.

It is quite honestly one of the most impressive GUIs I have ever used.

Thanks for your quick response! I may give it a try and think of a new workflow for RSS apps.

Is reeder 2 worth getting if I already have reeder 1? I also bought reeder for ipad which they didn't update to support feedly etc then took the app off the app store. For this reason I don't really want to buy from that developer again. I know these apps are cheap but its the principal.

Reeder 2 really doesn't look that much different but being a universal app and the new dark theme is nearly winning me back. Or I might just stick with reeder 1 and buy mr reader for ipad.

For the reasons you mentioned, I switched to Newsify on iPhone and iPad. Newsify was one of the first iOS apps to support Feedly sync and I have never looked back. Over time I think the Reeder dev. has been non-responsive and kind of took his customers for granted. JMO :)
