Reference Moves with new Apple TV

Hey guys

I've MRoogled/Googled... but all I can find are threads that are a few years old. Does the new AppleTV support streaming/playing Reference movies from an iTunes Library?
I have a few .avi's that i've added to iTunes and want to know if the new Apple TV would work to stream these to my TV.
