iPod Reformatting a 4G iPod...

Hey guys,

So, my aunt gave me this old 4G iPod. She said her son (my cousin) claimed it just stopped working one day. When you turn it on it seems to just stay on the Apple logo. When I plug it in to my computer, it says "do no disconnect" but it doesn't show up in my iTunes or desktop.

My question is... is there a way to get this working again? Is there a way to force reformat it maybe?

Any suggestions would be great.
