iPod Reformatting iPod in Windows

Right, I've had a bit of trouble with an iPod, and my Mac has refused to reformat it, so I've turned to this. iTunes on Windows is having trouble reformatting it, however Windows itself has kindly offered to do it. My q is - if I reformat it in Windows, can I reinstall the iPod software onto it? And what type of drive should I make it, eg NTFS?

Not sure if you reformat in windows whether you'll be able to restore it, however I wouldn't format to NTFS - winpods are fat32. Is it still under warranty? If not then reformatting to fat32 and then attempting the restore sounds like the best bet.

OK, but if I reformat it, will iTunes recognise it as an iPod, or will Windows just think it's an HD? And if iTunes doesn't recognise it, can I manually install the iPod software onto it - and where would I get it??

Frankly, if you are unable to do a factory reset on your iPod using iTunes, the chances are that something is wrong with it. Send it to an Apple service centre.

Agree. You should be able to reformat it using iTunes. I'd suggest that you take it to an Apple service centre.
