reformatting ipod

How do I reformat my iPod? Its the video model. It used to be conected to a pc but now im using a mac. I tried to reformat it trough itunes but it didnt work for some reason. I just want to reset it so its like new out of the box.

You need to use the iPod Software Updater program. If you can't find it on your computer (in the Utilities folder on Macs) you can download the latest version from Apples support pages.

You can use Disk thingy from the utilities to format it, but i would recommend doing what yippy said.
