Hi all,

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1 installed and I Jailbroke using Evasi0n 1.1 (if I remember correctly)

I jailbroke a few months ago and, although I love it, I started getting the odd crash with the phone going into safe mode straight after the jailbreak.
Recently the crashes have started to become more frequent so I was thinking about upgrading both my iOS and jailbreak to the most stable (and newest - if recommended) version.

1) Can someone explain which versions of iOS I should update to and which version of evasion (or other JB tool) that is the best to use?
2) Where can I find an this version of iOS if I need to download it, before updating my phone?
3) I'd like to keep all my stored app data and apps. is this possible? I have aptbackup installed. If this an effective tweak that will allow me to do this?

Thanks for all your help.

You can only upgrade to 6.1.4 but you cannot jailbreak it.

Upgrading removes all apps and Cydia hacks.

You can use ILEX Rat to repair your jailbreak, but it will not fix corrupted system files.

Cool, thanks for that.
How does ILEX Rat work then? What does it repair?

I presume there's no other way to "freshen up" my iPhone by going back to a blank iOS 6.1 and jailbreaking?

There are many discussions of ILEX Rat that exist.

I recommend using Google or search here for specific info.

Just found some info. Thanks again. One last thing. You mentioned corrupted system files. Is there way to check if I have any, or if there's anything in particular that's causing the "crashes."

Thanks again dhlizard.
