I'm highly considering picking up the 20GB iPod Refurb for $219 as it's probably the best deal I can get.

However, what does Refurbished entail? New casing, or will I get something scratch-filled? Etc?

it shouldn't look like you got it out of the trashcan or anything like that. i'm not positive, but i think they clean it up and make it look like new. My girl just bought an iPod mini that was a refurb and it looks brand new, no scratches or anything.

I'm purchased a refurbish iBook a while ago and I've seen many other Apple refurbed computers. They look new or almost new. They have little or no scratches on them. I had a slight surface crack on the corner of my iBook and that was it. I'd assume the iPods are the same way.
