Trying to decide between a refurb 24" 2.93 with the GT120 (4gb/640HD) and a new 21"imac 3.06 base model, or should I spring for the ATI card . No gaming, but want the best graphics performance for the web, and some occasional video editing ( iMovie-Final Cut Express ). Screen size not really an issue. In fact, the smaller screen may be better for glare issues. Eligible for the educational discount.

I went with the refurb 3.06 with 8800gs for $1149. Work great in os x and windows 7. Can even boot my umbp and early 2009 mini in taget mode on the new iMac. I'll wait a few years to get a refurb iMac 27".

All my macs over the past 5 years except the mini have been refurbs. To me it's all about saving money for a great computer.

Cheers,

One nice thing is that the older 2.93 GHz processor has 6 MB L2 cache compared to 3 MB on the new ones. And the 24" LCD is pretty nice (much better quality then the 20" ones.)
