Hi,

Haven't own a mac before, but used them in the past. It's been year though. Anyhow, I notice on Apple they occasionally have the 27" iMac Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz w/4GB RAM 1.0TB HD, and ATI w/256MB RAM on sale for $1049 - 1149.

It looks like an awesome deal and would like to purchase it. My concern is around gaming and photoshop. 256MB video ram is not that much and would cause some issue if this going to be a long term investment right?

I almost purchased this exact model myself but I knew that in the back in my head that I would regret buying a C2D processor at this day in age. I am sure the machine is capable of doing photoshop just fine. I ended up buying the base 27" imac core i5 and don't regret it one bit.

C2D @ 3 Ghz is plenty fast. At least my desktop C2D 2.5Ghz still seems to perform well.

I was interested because of the 27" screen. The ATI was the deal breaker for me

What?

So you are totally willing to compromise with a 4 year old C2D processor -- but its the video card that stopped you? LOL.

depending on where you are in the world, dont forget to factor in tax. For me in California: $1150 + $110 tax = $1250

But another few hundred gets you into a brand new 2.7 i5 after rebates, no tax, free shipping.

I got that same model a few weeks ago for $1100 shipped

I don't need the new whiz bang processors, but what I do need is a 27" screen to hook up my mbp to work from home - something the new iMacs can't do.

Realistically most people wouldn't see a difference between a 3.06 c2c and a core i5 or video adapters unless playing games which I don't do.

Dont buy the C2D.
