MP 7,1 Refurb MacPro with 580X - GPU benchmarks very low

I have just got a 7,1 refurb with 16core, 48GB RAM and 580X. The CPU benchmarks seem fine, but the Metal and Open CL benchmarks seem very low - about 30% lower than they should be. Am I doing something wrong or is there possibly something wrong with the hardware?

Geekbench 5:
Single Core 1152
Multi Core 15116
Open CL 29988
Metal 31354

Any clues please?

Not sure what the official benchmark should be for the 580X, but I get 50,000 (Metal) for my RX580 in Mojave.

I used Geekbench 5; got OpenCL 42681, metal 45779 with the 580X. I have a 28-core w/96G RAM.

This issue is due to driver on Catalina. If you want to get a high score, you need to back to Mojave

This makes no sense. You can’t run Mojave on a 7,1

Agreed, and thanks for your figures. They’re more in line with the benchmarks I’ve found online. I don’t know how much difference the extra cpu cores and RAM you have makes, but it should be a GPU not a CPU benchmark so I don’t think that’s relevant. I’ll call Apple tomorrow and ask what they suggest.

Don’t think cpu cores should make a difference, my 50k result is on a quad core mp.
