Would a refurb MB contain scratchs/dings, etc? Or would a refurb look just like the new unused one except someone had already used it? Also is it recommended to get a refurb (low cost) or just to get a new MB to rule out any defects?

Note: Usually I prefer new unopened products so this is the first time I've considered getting one and this would be my first Mac to switching.

My personal thinking is to buy the refurbished computer to avoid the new computer problems, even though the problems aren't as widespread as they seem. I did this with a PowerBook G4 and I've never been disappointed.

There might have been slight blemishes on the machine when I got it, but they weren't enough that I wouldn't have seen them in a month or two anyway.

I bought a refurb macbook pro today... it will be my third mac, the other two I have owned I bought new and have never had a problem. I usually always buy new, but the savings on the refurb MBP were too good for me to pass up and it was exactly what I wanted. I imagine it will be fine since someone has gone over it to fix the problems which is more than might be said for a brand new mac off the assembly line, but there is always some risk new or refurbished... for me it was worth the savings to take the chance

Mines came looking new, maybe a little dirty on the edges but you can just rub it of with your finger. I think there are light scratches on the case, but it's really hard to see unless it's in direct light. It's a great buy, I'm planning to pickup another one or a ipod nano.

I bought three or four refurb Macs for my old company, and they were flawless.
