Refurb MBA 13" with 4GB of ram

I was wondering if the Apple site ever has the 1.86 GHZ 13" MBA with 4GB of ram?

I am looking to buy that one but don't want to pay the $1500+ for the MBA ultimate spec computer.

Yes, occasionally. I was able to score a 13" 1.86G, 4G RAM, 128G SSD model on refurb. I checked the refurb site every morning until one showed up. Took a couple days.

Great to hear! How much did you score one for? I am in the market for an Air for the GF.

It shows up at least twice per week, but they go fast. They are $1189. Check twice per day and Monday is a typical day when it's added.

Yeah, I saw that. But I don't want to pay the $1529 price for it. $1189 sounds so much better

I waited until I saw one pop up. Debated. Refreshed. Sold out. I waited again a week later and quickly nabbed it. Came out to about $1300 total with tax + shipping.

Lovely machine. I completely love how it boots ridiculously fast and Word opens in about 3 seconds.

I saw the 4GB model that I wanted come up on the site a few times today and when I click the add to cart the item is no longer there. Seems like there's quite a bit of people who want the same model

I am going to tell you how to score one. Go to the site http://www.refurbme.com. They track all the Apple products that are available on the Apple site. All you have to do is click on the model you want. If it is not available at the time, then they will have you give them your email adress and when that model comes in on the apple refurb store, they will notify you by email. This works pretty well, although I did find that the emails are a little bit delayed. There were a couple of times that I tried to get mine that by the time I got the email and went to the site, they were already sold or in someone else's cart, so when I went to put it in my cart, I could not do it.

But this is by far the easiest way to do it. And what is really cool is the site tracks the stuff too. They tell you when it last appeared on the site and even how long it was available for. The one you are trying to get is probably the most popular, so it may take you a few tries to get one, but you will. I finally got mine after a few days of doing this process.

Last week they were there for several days without selling out. It will not take a week if you just check a few times daily. Most of the time they're available for a half day at a time or more, so it's not like they sell out in 20 minutes or something.

There were actually a couple of days last week when I was trying to get one where they sold in 10 minutes and again I 16 minutes, which was crazy! But you are right, that later in the week they must have had a bunch available cause they did last for over a day then.

Apple Refubs

Any dead pixels? That's what I worry about when buying refurbed.

Unlike a lot of places selling refurbs that arrive in fair-to-poor condition and ridden with operating issues (like Overstock.com's stuff) Apple's refurbs are essentially new. I've been buying them for years and never had an issue. Out of the box, they are scratch-free and in perfect operating condition. I've also read that Apple replaces the cases and screens when re-selling a MacBook. I highly recommend buying an Apple refurb, saving yourself several hundred $$$.

BTW, I'm typing this post on my refurbed 2010 MacBook Air 13 with 4GB of RAM that I bought about two weeks ago online. They tend to sell out within 24 hours, so act fast if you want one.
