I can get an M1 Mini return for $875 from Apple, or a new M2 for $951. Both are 16/512

Is the M2 worth that extra money for someone using it mainly for Logic Pro X? Or would I be better suited for the refurb M1 and spending the saved money for something else.

I think the M2 is worth the extra $75, easily. Pretty decent boost in CPU and GPU performance over the M1.

Apple refurbs, provided you can find availability of the model you want, are well worth it. But whether you need the extra power of an M2 is a different question. Logic Pro X will work sufficiently well with M1, but heavy usage may see some benefit from M2.

Yeah im not a professional or anything, I just make demos for my band. But I am learning audio production more and more and am adding more and more, if that makes sense

So it seems a simple decision whether you can afford the later M2, or can make better use of the small saving? I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way.

For $76 the difference is marginal so go for M2. If you were talking $200 or more then refurb M1 would be more sensible
I found an M1 that’s 16/1TB on marketplace for $750 but had a hard time getting the seller to communicate

Most likely too good to be true

Facebook marketplace? See all of the posts about scams or equipment that doesn't work, often ebay purchases. You have to decide if the risk of losing your money is worth the cost savings. Personally I would only buy from Apple or authorized dealers.

Another option is an M1 mini refurb with 16/256 for $639 and just add storage via Thunderbolt as needed.

You're talking apples v. oranges here.
The two models are not "directly comparable" price-wise.

Get the m2.
