Does anyone know why the refurbed 3.06 iMac is still the same price as it was before the upgrade?

Yes I have been wondering the same thing. The 2.8 has gone down but not the 3.06. Whats up with that?

Because it still performs as well as the new model:D and has a faster processor than the new high end iMac sans the ddr3 ( witch is arguably slower than ddr2).

I figured something like that. So which do you think is better to buy? Refurb 3.06 for $1899 or the new 2.93 for $1799?

it is the same machine really, If the LCD is better in the refurb get the refurb as a TN 24" panel will look like dog sh*t compared to the H-IPS, personally, I would go with this http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB325LL/A?mco=MjE0NDk5Mw over the new one. its only .1ghz slower and the money you save could easily buy 4gb ram from a 3rd party vendor and a copy of whatever software you want + snow Leopard when it comes out

Thank you...I know that really is a good deal. Are the LCD's different now in the new ones?
