refurbished 2.4 Ghz 24" iMac reviews

I have one of these at work typing on it now,
I have only praise for these machines, fully recommend you purchase if
it meets your specifications.

My 2.4 GHz 24" just arrived last Saturday. No problems at all (other than the learning curve of a life-long PC user). What I thought was a stuck/dead pixel was a white dot in the B&W image that I had set as my wallpaper. And yesterday, my 2x2gig RAM arrived from Crucial.com. So, now the machine is even a little more robust.
Now, I just to figure out how to transfer things from my PC (like firefox bookmarks and iTunes songs)... then I'll need to figure out how to bring my files over from my PC formatted external hard drive (I plan to dedicate an external hard drive to my iMac as well).
Ultimately, I'm very happy with my purchase. Get one, you'll love it !

I'm also typing on my refurb 2.4Ghz 24" iMac that I bought back in September. Zero problems with it - unlike my wife's NEW 24" iMac that has had a myriad of hardware problems (hard drive replaced, logic board, memory on two separate visits by the apple tech).
I got one back when they were $1299 and it was a horrible, horrible mess. The Apple rep and I theorized that they forgot to refurbish it. Long story short, they gave me a partial refund and I kept it. Sometimes you get a bad one, but that's just how it is ordering anything. I'd say Apple is one of the best companies I've ordered from, customer service-wise.
The iMac is a great machine, in my opinion, and the 2.4GHz and 2.8GHz models are a steal in the refurb store right now.

Yeah, I still see these from time to time on Apple refurb for 1049. There was one yesterday. I have been considering it, but for 150 more you can get the 2.8 version which has a newer processor, faster FSB and RAM. Overall it works out to about 25% speed increase according to all the benchmarks I can find. I still can't decide if this is worth 150 though. I'd say either one of these is a good deal. With either one you get the same fantastic screen.

It's about 25% when you consider the combined effects of CPU speed, CPU architecture, FSB speed, and RAM speed. See primate for reference.
I thought the same thing. But when I looked at the speed of the PC that I'd been using for the past 5+ years (1.4GHZ, 512 RAM, 51 gig hard drive) and all of the Photoshop & Frontpage website building that I was able to do with it, I decided that the 2.4 GHz iMac would more than meet my needs. I've never had "top of the line" anything. And even if I did, in this day and age of technological development, it'd be obsolete within a month.
I like the 2.4 GHz just fine. Consider increasing the RAM when you get yours. It's not the same as increasing processor speed, but it helps in other areas.Congrats on your purchase.
that is quite an upgrade. i'm upgrading from an 2.2ghz macbook. i get the occasional hiccup here and there but it works fine, but i'm tired of staring at the tiny screen. i can't wait for the imac. i took the measurements, and it won't fit on my current desk (oops)
got the imac today. the unit looks wonderful BUT
there are two dead pixels i want to keep the unit since it took forever to ship but that would be silly.
so i called apple care and they will be sending me another unit as soon as fedex scans that i will be shipping mine.
i should be really upset but the folks at apple care apologized and were genuine. for the hassle, they will be crediting me $50 and will provide a free copy of iLife 09, so all is well.
the unit is already packed, but from the 20 minutes of playing with it, i was very impressed with the picture quality and how clean and sharp the picture is. i look forward to a dead pixel-less screen

Yeah, Apple really takes care of its customers. I know they have a spec for minimum number of dead pixels like all manufacturers, but they waved it for you. But are you sure you want to send it back for just two dead pixels? Two is really low. Your next could have more. There are over 2.3 million pixels on that screen. If I look closely enough I can usually find a few duds on any screen with the right test patterns.
two is low, but it is two dead pixels. the folks at apple were very understanding. i don't expect a perfect product (since it is a refurbished), but apple is a reputable company and will not intentionally send out products that are not 100% perfect, why should i settle for less? if the second model comes with dead pixels, i will send it back. besides its under 14 days
