I am about to buy a refurbished 4th Generation Color iPod from the online Apple Store, and was looking for some advice.

The 30 GB model is $249, the 40 GB one $279, and the 60 GB one $299. I don't have a lot of extra cash, and really do not need more than 30 or 40 GB, yet the 60 GB model for $299 is tempting. One concern of mine, however, is that the 60 GB hard drive may be more succeptible to problems than the 30 or 40. Is this true?

Also, is the 60 GB model noticeably thicker and heavier than the 30 GB one? Size and weight are an issue for me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions... I'm getting excited already... :)

Yeah the 60 is definetly thicker. Too much for my liking. Be realistic though... if you only have 17GBs worth of mp3's, just get like a 30GB . This could allow for much more, plus, if you ever decide to increase the bitrate (increase song quality) on the tracks that you import, you'll still have the room to do so. You'll also have room for photos and what not. Good luck on your purchase.

Yes, the 40 & 60 are quite thick.

The 20 & 30 were a reasonable size. I'd go, for the 20 or 30.

As the others have said the 40 and 60 GB are noticeably larger then the 20 or 30 GB. If you would like a smaller size and have a smaller library then the 30 is the way to go.
