Now what do I do? A new 21.5 inch for $1499 or the Refurbished 24 inch for $1349? Save $850.00!!!

thinking the same thing - was looking toward the refurbed 24" with the 2.66 processor for $1,099

yeah, i'm thinking about it too. I was looking on here to see what other people thought. So whats the thinking? I like the idea of the 27" so I can plug my MBP in and use as a monitor.

I would really appreciate anyone's thoughts.

I'm thinking this too. Are the new ones THAT Much better? IDK. LED display, SD-card slot are big I think, (maybe) Magic Mouse is a who cares if you already use something else like Logitech MX Revolution.

Now I don't know if spending $700 more for i5, 2 extra ram slots, 27" (compared to 24)

Thinking the same thing. The 24" meets my needs (light video / photo editing). I see the new screen as the significant difference. I will take a week or so to make a decision but I think I'll go with the refurb. Can anyone tell me why this is not a good choice?

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I figure by the time I make up my mind I won't have a choice as the refurbished may be gone

I've been thinking and as cool as it would be to get such a cheap system, the new one (if you go 21.5) is pretty much a better system. The resolution is about the same, LED screen means brighter and better, SD-slot, better speakers. And it's just a little smaller if you don't have room for the 24/27.

After thinking about it, I'm definitely going to go with a new one, I just don't know which one :) (I did order the 27 quad, but can always cancel since the thing ships in November)

If it suits your needs, get it. The way I see it, you should buy whichever one does what you need it to do and will leave you happy with your purchase at the end of the day.

Wow, now I'm even more confused, too. I LOVE saving money, and all I do is email and download vids now and then and surf. That's it. Why oh why do I need to spend $400+ for the 27" screen when the 24" will suit all my needs and then some.

I really have something to think about here. Thanks for posting this.

Hmmm, not the latest and the greatest or get the latest and greatest.... Can my ego handle getting "last months" machine?;)

Couple of things to point out: It MAY BE that SOME of the refurb models are actually brand new. Whenever Apple comes out with new stuff, they put the older models on the refurb store. (Source: MacRumors threads over the years)

Another thing to note is that these refurbs are limited stock, so if you want one, order fast.

Another point: Consider the base level 21-inch model too. Those start at $1199, and have the same processor, RAM, screen real estate...And in this scenario, you're buying a NEW computer (since what I said above is not always true, or maybe completely false altogether).

im thinking new now - 21.5

its between that and the refurbed 24, 2.66

I could save $100 and buy the new mouse

Hey, just came back from the local Apple store. They don't have the new computers out yet, they are putting them out tonight after closing. So i was talking to a buddy and asked what they are doing with all the floor models etc.... Well he said they will get shipped back to Apple get worked over and put on the refurb site. Those are the maxed out ones. So even if there's not the iMac you want on the refurb site right now, keep an eye out i'm sure there will be many more over the next few weeks.

The fedex dropped off my previously loved iMac 24" 2.66 the day the new iMac line came out  Anyways my wife was looking at the previously loved Macs for an xmass gift and saw the price drop... One quick call to :apple: and, all is good again :D
