I'm torn between the iPad 8 and the Air Gen 4. The Gen 4 is really just too expensive for me to rationalize, and I find the camera bump annoying. I am using this more as a second monitor on the road via sidecar and to read, do light work. I absolutely 100% don't need a pro, though the 120hz refresh is very cool. The iPad 8 looks tired to me, the storage is either too small or exensive enough that I should get a better iPad, and the screen is not as nice as the air. Got me thinking that a good in-between would be the last generation of Air, which theoretically should be available refurbished on Apple's website. Problem is I can never seem to find it available. Does anyone know of any secret to scoring a 3rd gen air refurbished?

Right before the Air 4 launched, I had white dot problem on my Gen 3. When I took it to store, I was hoping they'd be out of Gen 3, and let me trade up or something.

Guy took one look and said, let me check if we have any replacements in back. When he came back, he said, "Good news, we have a few left." Then opened the plain box that told me it was a refurbished unit.

I doubt you'll find any from Apple in circulation anymore.

Maybe you should consider putting a case on the iPad then.
Moreover the camera is unimportant to me. But I would like to be able to set it down naked on my desk — carefully — without worrying about any protrusions. In any... case... I don't really need anything on the 4 vs the 3 save the sub-c connection, but that is not major.
