Refurbished Iphones

Do you guys think that the refurbished iPhone's you get from a the genius bar are better quality than the NIB iPhone's... Just curious on everyones thoughts???

My iphone 3Gs has 2 smudges under the glass and has some small light leak coming from left side, time to go see the genius bar again....

My refurb 3GS is just fine. Out of the box it was perfect, and side by side to a new one, I wouldnt have seen a difference. My refurb has the yellow tinted screen, but its whatever.

It is hit or miss with any iPhone is my conclusion from stalking these boards.

I had my 3G replaced due to a dark spot on the bulb for the backlight causing a yellow tint to the lower right of the screen. Since then the refurbished iPhone that I got has been fine. I think that they are good. It seems like Apple replaces the parts that matter during the refurbishing.

they're just as good, if not better seeing as they are checked twice.

Yea, I've no idea why some people are against refurbs. They are like new but they've gone through more quality checks. The fault has been removed and a new part put in that's all.

I'm curious as to what you mean by smudges under the screen?

It looks like a grease print but under the glass and you can only see it in certain light.

OP: Could you please edit the first post in this thread to correct the spelling of "Refurb" (or better yet use a more descriptive title like "Refurbished iPhone Build Quality"? It appears this thread isn't going to die, and the misspelling is very annoying.

It annoyed me too, but I wasn't going to say anything. However, he may not know how.

OP, go to "go advanced" under "edit" and you can change the title.

You can't buy them, they give them to you when you have to exchange your current iPhone when you have a problem with it.

I traded in my 3G for a new 3G due to a warranty issue. I know everyone will say it is a refurb. I honestly cannot tell the difference and I am very happy with my current 3G.
