I'm really considering the 2020 MBP, 1 TB 16 GB. The refurbished section has it $176 less than buying a brand new one due to an employee discount. It doesn't look like that discount applies to the refurbished store, or at least that Mac.

Is it worth to pay a little more for brand new? I've always considered refurbs to be very good quality but I'm looking at 10% difference in price. The refurb store also only has Space Gray in stock.

I don't quite understand the part about the employee discount, but assume you are saying that the final cost to you is $176 less for a certified Apple refurb. If so, then I would take the refurb and $176 in my pocket in a heartbeat. Have bought a number of refurbs, including my current primary Mac. They have all been just as good as new in my experience.

Where I work we get discounts on Apple stuff. I think the only exceptions are iPhone and the new MBPs.

But I noticed I can’t use Apple Card payments on refurbished items. I wanted to get the 3% cash back and was planning to pay it off pretty soon. I’ll just wait and save up the balance in a few more weeks.
